Summer is here and the best thing about summer in India- Mangoes. Mango is one thing that gets us Indian drooling. Lip smackingly delicious, no wonder it’s considered the King of fruits.
Summer is the time the Rajdhani team brings forth a treat for all mango lovers. A Thali that’s so Aamlicious that it deserves the “King of Thali” title. The Aam festival is held every year between April – June.
Rajdhani is known for two things – Rich food and the Royal service. Right from being greeted at the entrance with an aarti thali and flowers to the end, the whole experience is bound to win your heart.
Quick facts :
- All items are made in-house.
- The mangoes are obtained fresh from selected orchards that are tied up with the brand.
- No chemicals or preservatives are used in making and the organic flavour is retained.
Coming to food, this festival has a number of items rich in mango in addition to these regular items on the Thali. They have a rotational menu.
What we(2 of us) tried and loved a brief :
For drinks we were served Aam thandai, Kairi Panaa, Aam lassi and Butter milk. The drinks were rich in flavours and served perfectly chilled. Instant refresher.. My favorite was the Kairi Panaa.
The Thali placed before us and the crew started painting it with a number of chutneys. Green mint Chutney, Garlic Chutney, Aam chutney, Kairi onion Chutney, Kairi pickle. Yumm!
For Starters, we tried Shahi Aam Dhokla, Kairi Stuffed Bread Roll and Khatta Meetha Ghugra. The dhokla was rich. The Kairi Stuffed bread roll, stuffed to brin with Kairi and green chillies, was delicious. The Ghurga was deep fried with a sweet and tangy mango stuffing inside. I loved the Ghugra. Along with the chutneys, especially the garlic one, they were plain Bliss!
Moving to main course we were served, daal baati churma, Mango salsa dhokla, Aam ki launji, tadka daal, Desi channa daal, Surti daal, Tawa Paneer Masala, Turiya gattia, Aloo methi, Mango Pulao, Moong daal Khichdi along with phulkas, Puris, spicy papad stuffed paratha and khoba roti.
The gravies were cooked to perfection in an array of spices were delicious. They went really well along with the Indian breads and rice. The Aloo methi, Mango Pulao, daals, paneer, Aam ki launji and daal baati churma were my personal favorites.
Coming to the desserts, we were served Aamras, Kaju Halwa, Mango Jalebis topped with Rich Rabdi and Malpua topped with Rabdi. Served warm and fresh from the kadai, they were plain awesome. Aamras was heavenly. The maplua brilliant. The Jalebis were wow.
The meal was so rich, so wholesome and served with so much of love that we ate more than we normally do.
With over 39 items to choose from, the Thali is priced at 499 rupees. Given the variety of items, taste, richness, ambience and the beautiful service, it’s very reasonable.
A brilliant start to the summer of 2017.
